A refinished countertop is durable and can extend the life of your counters by 10 to 15 years with basic care and maintenance. Most granite surfaces need a new finish every 5 to 15 years, depending on the traffic or use they receive. Your newly polished granite should then be resealed to protect it from stains and other damaging problems.
Tip: Honed finishes are easier to restore than polished finishes, especially on marble countertops. It is highly recommended to choose a honed finish for your marble countertops if you appreciate their appearance.

Sealer Application
This is what can happen if natural stone countertops are not properly sealed. Unsealed stone can quickly become stained by food and liquids. As natural stone is a predominantly porous material, food and water can seep deep into the stone in a matter of minutes. Prevention is always the best way to look after your countertops, so always keep them sealed!
Tip: The time frame of resealment for each natural stone may vary. Marbles are recommended to be resealed after 6 months of use. Granites, 1 to 2 years of use. And Quartzites after 1 year of use.
